The Interlink platform was developed from scratch for AGM Telematics. This product launched AGM Telematics into the Telematics marketplace.

As the product owner, I oversaw the design of the solution and then I managed the team that developed it, including the front end, backend, management portal and custom firmware for both the Mobile Devices C4C device and Astra Telematics AT100.

The solution was innovative for the time; the architecture was device-agnostic and supported an expanding range of hardware manufacturers. It was the first solution that provided a self-hosted deployment option for enterprise customers.

The user interface made innovative use of Google Earth and custom 3D models that could be quickly generated to reflect customers’ vehicles and livery ahead of the product demonstration. This made for very impressive sales demos with a high conversion rate.

The backend was developed in the .net framework with an administration portal written in PHP. The User application was developed in Delphi and C++ Builder.

The product was well received by customers, some using into 2018 when support was discontinued and migrated onto a newer version of the platform.

The largest single customer was Lewis Day Transport, which operated a self-hosted server deployment with around 2000 vehicles.

High Performance

The Interlink platform made very efficient use of the server hardware. Innovative geospatially indexed mapping data allowed over 20,000 reverse geocoded per second on a single core. This, combined with optimal telemetry data partitioning, allowed the entire platform to be deployed on a pair of medium-spec servers.

Innovative UI

The user interface was years ahead of its time—fully interactive 3D visualisation of fleets. Tractor units equipped with our trailer ID system would connect and disconnect to trailers in real-time, and models would position and orient to match the telemetry data. Custom buildings, loading bays, and zones could be imported onto the map display.

Complete Solution

Interlink was a complete telematics platform, device agnostic, vehicle tracking, driver ID, reporting suite, geofence monitoring, alert engine with configurable monitoring and alerts for out-of-hours use, low battery, temperature monitoring, trailer tag, and digital inputs.
